Day 1

In the early morning of April 11th, 2014, 92 students from Foundation in Natural and Built Environments of Taylor's University gathered at the campus, waiting for departure. Our convoy consisting of 3 buses started the journey at 8:15am.

The morning traffic along the way.

Two of our three buses.
After 2 grueling hours sitting in the bus, we finally arrived at D'ark resort at Janda Baik, Pahang. As this resort is located deep in the hills, the journey here put us through lots of winding roads. We stepped of the bus gratefully and retreived our lugage as soon as the bus stopped.

And it was then I saw the river's name :

Benus River
After crossing the river we arrived at our resort. All of us gathered at the conference hall, took our room keys and had lunch. After a brief rest, we went downstream to take a look at our new environment.

Our site is situated rather downstream compared to the other groups, and we took quite a long walk to reach there. Perhaps the best sign of our site is this concrete bridge.

We had a great time exploring the site for the next 2 days, not forgetting to chill and relax in the ice cold stream in the midst of collecting data.

In the afternoon, we participated in a game that required us to make the largest and fastest animal out of butter paper, newspaper, and mahjong paper that floats on water. So after scratching our heads for quite some time we decided to ditch the plan and do whatever we can. Finally, we came out with this:

The Budget Ray!

Although we lost the competition to other more eerie-looking paper 'animals', it was certainly lots of fun.

Day 2

In the early morning, we gathered at the field waiting for lorries. Yeah, lorries. 30 of us climbed onto the back of the lorry and basically it was a roller coaster ride to a lake. We had to look out for silent incoming evil branches that would slap our faces if we forgot to duck.

Once we reached the lake, we were given bamboos and ropes to build a raft. So depending on our scouting knowledge, we began the job.

Reliving the scouting experience!

Safety jackets before jumping into the deep lake.
And right after that, we had to jump into the lake and push the raft to the other end of the lake and back! That insane vigorous activity left me breathless. I can't even stand up straight!

Day 3

After a brief site visit, we packed our belongings and left this haven with a river full of memories.

Our group photos!

We also did some jump-shots with Ms D:

And finally, our FNBE buddies!!
